We are delighted to announce the launch of our new website!
Our new website provides our existing and prospective clients a simple yet interactive view of our work and the services we offer.
-
Think Traffic Flow
Remove overlarge pieces of furniture and look at the overall layout of your space. You want to think of how people will move through your home when they are viewing it. Make sure there are no barriers to entering a room both physically and visually. Also look at the focal points in each room and what grabs your attention upon entering each space.
-
Upgrade Appliances
This is one of the most expensive upgrades you can do but if you have old out of date appliances it is worth the cost to change to new stainless steel ones. You will generally get the money you spent back again in resale value and even older kitchens can get a lift with shiny new appliances.
-
Upgrade the countertops
Replacing countertops with either granite or quartz counters can be a way to boost the look of your kitchen or bathroom without doing a full renovation. Some fabricators have remnant pieces that for smaller areas can be a cost effective way of changing out the countertop.
-
Refresh existing cabinets
This can be done by either painting existing cabinets a lighter colour or also by changing the hardware to more contemporary pulls or handles. If your wood cabinets are still in fairly good shape and suit the style and character of your home then a good cleaning with Murphy's Oil Soap can give a refreshed look to wood doors and drawer fronts.
-
Update the faucets and shower heads
This is a cost effective way to give a modern look to a kitchen or bathroom sink. You can also change out the shower head very easily and put in a more luxurious model that has multi spray functions or a rain head for an instant upgraded look.
-
Refresh a bath or shower surround
This can be done by removing the grungy silicone around the perimeter of the tub or shower base and re-caulking with fresh silicone. If you have a tile surround that is in good shape but just an unattractive colour you can paint the tiles a neutral colour to brighten the surround. You can also use various acrylic panels to cover up existing tiles. Sometimes just adding a fresh looking new shower curtain can be enough to draw attention away from a less attractive surround.
-
Add new white towels to a bath
This is an easy upgrade to the look of a bath by having spotless white towels to give a spa look.
-
Change to lighter new bed linens
You can find inexpensive duvet cover and comforter sets at many retailers that can add brightness and a fresh look to bedrooms.
-
Edit your bedroom furniture
If you have traditional heavy furniture in your bedroom consider not using all of the pieces or of changing out an old wood bed frame for an upholstered headboard in a lighter neutral colour.
-
Make sure each room has a clearly defined purpose
Having a catch all room that has no clearly defined use is not good. Buyers should know the purpose of a space by walking into it without having to guess.
-
Change flooring to be more uniform
Also one of the more expensive upgrades you can do but it can have a huge impact. If you have old stained carpets mixed with vinyl flooring try updating to a laminate floor throughout. Generally people like to see all of your main floor living spaces in a hard surface flooring not carpet. Laminate or engineered hardwood especially in a wider plank look (at least 5" wide) will update the entire look of your home.
